The Story
A tale of migration, reimagined.
Japanese traditions meet Peruvian ingredients, giving rise to a culinary journey like no other.
A Heritage of Discovery
MizuMesa comes to life from a remarkable story: the birth of Nikkei Cuisine. In the late 19th century, Japanese migrants traveled to Peru and blended their refined cooking traditions with the vibrant flavors of their new home. From this meeting of cultures, a harmonious fusion was born, balancing Japanese precision with the bold taste of Peru.
Crafting the Union
At MizuMesa, every detail, from the design and atmosphere to the flavors on each plate, reflects this union. Our name tells the story: Mizu means “Water” in Japan, and Mesa means “Table” in Peru. Together, they symbolize the heart of cooking and the foundation of all sauce served at the table.
Peru has extraordinary, unique ingredients found nowhere else. From over 4,000 potato varieties and more than 55 types of corn to 350 kinds of Spices and Chilies, each ingredient brings a flavor all its own. This richness gives our Nikkei cuisine distinctive tastes, some of which are featured at MizuMesa.
